The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recognized 13 employers who have taken steps to encourage environmentally-friendly commuter practices, reduce traffic congestion and preserve the region’s air quality at its meeting on Feb. 6, 2024, by recognizing them as a “Best Workplace for Commuters” (BWC). GuidePoint Security was one of the honorees:
GuidePoint Security, a Herndon-based cybersecurity firm (Dranesville District), has emphasized remote work since its founding in 2011, and offers flexible work schedules for its 800 employees.
The Best Workplaces for Commuters program is a national recognition founded by the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of South Florida. Philip Winters, TDM program director from CUTR, introduced this year’s honorees and spoke to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors about current commuting trends. “Nearly one-quarter of workers have left a job due to a bad commute, according to research from staffing firm Robert Half,” said Winters, emphasizing the importance of Fairfax’s leadership in bringing Best Workplaces for Commuters recognition to area employers.
