The Port of Seattle has confirmed that the cyberattack causing system outages in late August was a ransomware attack executed by the ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) operation Rhysida.
Rhysida is a relatively new ransomware group that was first observed in May of 2023. Since then, it has claimed several high-visibility victims spanning education, healthcare, manufacturing, information technology and government sectors.
Jason Baker, Principal Threat Intelligence Consultant with GRIT (GuidePoint Research and Intelligence Team), joined KOMO-TV to share more about the attack and what consumers need to be on the lookout for.
