Tips on Summer Travel Scams

Summer travel season is here, which means scammers are, too.

In an interview with NewsNation, GuidePoint Security’s Victor Wieczorek shares how consumers can protect themselves from a growing number of travel scams.

Fraudsters are launching increasingly complex scams to take advantage of summer travelers, including fake booking sites, fraudulent customer service interactions and ATM or gas pump skimmers. Some are even using artificial intelligence (AI) to make the scams more convincing.

Travelers can protect themselves by skipping deals that seem “too good to be true,” avoiding third party sites for booking and payment and taking extra steps to verify any information received from automated phone calls or texts.
