AI-driven scams surge during holiday shopping season

From fake emails to fraudulent shopping sites, scammers are exploiting new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to deceive unsuspecting shoppers during the holiday season.
Cybersecurity expert Chris Warner with GuidePoint Security warned that AI is making scams more convincing and harder to detect.
AI tools allow scammers to create hyper-realistic fake videos featuring celebrities endorsing products.
“You see someone you trust promoting a product, and you think, ‘I like this person, I trust their ideology,’ so you buy it,” Warner said.
