It’s not just big business facing ransomware attacks, but consumers as well.
GuidePoint Security’s Mark Lance, VP, DFIR & Threat Intelligence, joined ABC30 to share about the evolving role of ransomware in threat actors’ arsenals.
“Modern ransomware is no longer just about operational impacts and trying to get access back to your computer. They’re also now stealing data from environments that they’re encrypting, and trying to extort you based on that data,” said Lance. “So, even if you’re able to recover from backups or bring your systems back online, they’re still going to try to get you to pay based on the data they’ve collected.”
